Licensing and Authorization

Licencing, authorizations, and other approvals given by the Director covers, the tuna, coastal, aquaculture fisheries, and Vanuatu fishing vessels. Two main licenses are issued for industrial tuna fisheries; a foreign fishing vessel license (FFL) issued to a foreign vessel (FFV) to fish in Vanuatu’s Exclusive Economic Zone and an International Authorization To Fish Certificate is issued to a Vanuatu fishing vessel to operate in areas beyond Vanuatu waters, Regional Tuna Fisheries Management Organisation (RFMOs) to which Vanuatu is a contracting and non-contracting party to.
